SkateNationXL is a Web3 skateboarding game developed by MBS Studios — a physics-based multiplayer experience with deep customisation and competitive gameplay. The challenge: launch the game to a global audience with a trailer that could generate hype, drive Steam wishlists, and build a community before release.
I led the end-to-end production process — from conceptualising the narrative and writing the script, to coordinating with external studios, managing timelines, and delivering the final trailer across platforms.
The result: a cinematic reveal that picked up 1.2M+ views across channels, coverage from IGN and major gaming outlets, 8k+ Steam wishlists, and a Discord community of 10k+ verified members.
Conceptualised the complete narrative arc — a cinematic reveal of a hyper-futuristic metropolis opening into fast-paced skateboarding gameplay.
Designed a UGC strategy that generated 20+ organic review videos and community-created content across YouTube and social platforms.
Led briefings, coordinated with studios, managed NDAs, contracts, budgets, and production timelines from brief to delivery.
Oversaw final trailer output — motion graphics, gameplay reveal, and cinematic sequencing — optimised for multi-platform distribution.
The trailer opens with a breathtaking, almost dizzying high-angle shot. We're positioned impossibly high, looking straight down into a sprawling, hyper-futuristic metropolis. Towering gleaming skyscrapers pierce atmospheric clouds, bathed in the warm golden glow of a perpetual dawn or dusk.
Transition to a first-person perspective — the viewer placed directly onto the edge. We see the player's feet, clad in sleek high-tech footwear, firmly planted on a cutting-edge hover-skateboard. Below, the dizzying cityscape stretches endlessly, reinforcing the precarious height.
Without hesitation, the skater launches off the precipice. The camera follows as they plummet, the city rushing up at incredible speed. The board's unique hover capabilities become apparent — subtle energy trails emanating from its underside, showcasing our innovative movement system.
Rapid-fire footage of spectacular gameplay — grinding impossibly long rails, weaving through dense aerial traffic, performing tricks between closely packed buildings. A shot of multiple players racing side-by-side, emphasising the multiplayer and competitive elements.
Brought the cinematic opening and in-game environment renders to life — responsible for the atmospheric city sequence and motion graphic overlays throughout the trailer.
Handled gameplay capture, edit assembly, sound design, and final post-production polish — ensuring the trailer met broadcast quality standards for all distribution platforms.
